The obverse: the two-headed eagle designed by artist I. Bilibin. The inscriptions along the rim: at the top 3 1997 . (3 RUBLES 1997), at the bottom Ȼ (BANK OF RUSSIA). The letters below indicate the metal sign, the fineness, the fine metal content and the mint trademark.

The reverse: the picture of the Monastery of the Virgins Saint Entrance Presentation in Yaroslavl. Over the picture the date 1314. The inscription along the rim: at the top - ܻ (THE MONASTERY OF THE VIRGINS SAINT ENTRANCE PRESENTATION), at the bottom (Yaroslavl).

The Monastery of the Virgins Saint Entrance Presentation was founded in 1314 by Trifon, the bishop of Rostov. It was built on the bank of the River Tolga, at the place of marvelous appearance of the Virgins Icon. Today there are two copies of this icon: one of them is at the Tretiakov Gallery in Moscow, the other at the Museum of History and Arts in Yaroslavl. The Monastery of the Virgins Saint Entrance Presentation is a remarkable complex of the Russian architecture of the XVIIth century.
