The reverse: a self-portrait of Vasily Surikov, under it - fragments of his painting "Boyarynia (noblewoman) Morozova" (from left to right - the dome of a church, a running boy, Boyarynia Morozova in a sledge, a wanderer woman and God's man), below - a palette with brushes and the painter's facsimile signature. Vasily Ivanovich Surikov (January 24 (12), 1848-March 19 (6), 1916) - a Russian historical painter and an Itinerant (member of the Society of Wandering Exhibitions). His monumental paintings such as "The Morning of the Execution of Streltsy", "Boyarynia Morozova", "The Conquest of Siberia by Yermak" and "Suvorov and his Army Crossing the Alps" are polyphonic masterpieces, intense in colour and content. He also created portraits and watercolour landscapes.
